Mentor Network

The Mentor Network offers support to new students in their first steps toward creating a successful life as a college student. Currently we are redesigning the structure of the Mentor Network but the following programs are available on campus to assist you.

Commuter Students

All First-Year commuter students have the opportunity to interact with our commuter mentor. The commuter mentor writes our newsletter, Campus Connections, and plans commuter events to help students get involved, help them adapt university life challenges, and connect them to campus.

Learning Communities

There are seven learning communities located within the residence halls which provide help with student transition to college in a fun way. They contain extra staff who provide extra mentoring to learning community students. For more information about learning communities, please contact livelearn@mtu.edu, or visit our website at www.compass.mtu.edu/learningcommunities.

Individual Assistance

The Center for Orientation, Mentoring, Parents, and Academic Student Success (COMPASS) staff is available to provide assistance for any first-year student that may have academic or personal concerns. Feel free to contact us at us by phone at (906) 487-3558, by email, or by our online form.
